Having a play with Girl with Locks

2014-07-27 08.16.49WM

Had a play day with this gorgeous Girl with Locks from Make it Crafty. She is such an adorable image that I wanted to showcase her by creating a CAS card. Here is a close up of her.

Just love her locks and all of the creases and folds. Speaking of creases and folds have you seen Zoe's new tutorial? It is fantastic!! You can take a peek here. It is one of the best tutorials and very detailed.

Questions and Answers for the Creative Blog Hop

My friend Dawn asked me to take part in this Creative Blog Hop.  It is a continuous blog hop showcasing some fabulous people and their blogs - I am sure you will enjoy the journey.

So first off I have to answer a few questions about me and my work.

1. What am I working on?

Currently I am working on a scene to show atmospheric perspective. It is not coming out the way that I want though. During a drive yesterday I took the opportunity to look ahead of me and can really see how things look in the distance but taking that and making it into a picture is a little difficult for me so may need to start again and rethink my colors.

2. How does my work differ from others in my genre?

Not sure that mine really differs other than I like to color using the no lines technique. It makes it a challenge and also gives the flat image some life and a 3D look.

3. Why do I create what I do?

I love to color and love taking a piece of paper and making it into something. Still surprises me how much paper weighs and the strength it creates when layering and making shapes.

4. How does your creative process work?

Normally I pick an image I want to color and then decide on the papers but lately I have just been coloring and picking out the papers at a later time. I find this a little bit of a struggle because I want my colors to be spot on with the paper I use.

Would you like to join the continuous blog hop? If so just copy my questions and let me know and I will link to you …. let’s keep this journey going!

A Little Fun

2014-07-06 11.55.14Finished

I recently had a week off of work and spent most of the time coloring …. I had a great time! I colored a lot of images and they are ready for cards. Here is one that I colored.

This is a CAS card but I love showcasing the images as a lot of work goes into them. This image is called Feline Lead Balloon from Little Miss Muffet Stamps. 2014-07-06 11.55.14Finished

This image was very fun to color, I love using red and played around with coloring fur. I think the balloon could have been a little better but that is OK.

I printed the digital image on Make it Colour blending card and colored it with Copics.

  • Balloon – R29, R27, R24, R22, R20
  • Cat – N8, N6, N4, N2

Fun Stampers Journey

I recently learned of this new company named Fun Stampers Journey that is fantastic! They are brand new and you can purchase products directly or become a Journey Coach. If you become a coach you have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor and be one of the first to show these great products.

Each month FSJ offers a kit of the month club. When I signed up as a coach I received the June kit of the month. The kit includes a stamp set and pre-cut materials and embellishments to make four cards and they sell for $24.95, a fantastic deal! Here are two of the cards I made from the kit. The kits are not in the catalog but if you would like to see all of the great product you can download a PDF copy of the FSJ catalog by clicking the link.

Fearless Fairy Tales at Little Miss Muffet Stamps

Here is my project using Cinderella. Isn’t she just great? I had a great time coloring her.
2014-07-06 11.52.32
I wanted to grunge her up some so I used Tim Holtz Distress InkBlack Soot and Chipped Sapphire. The sentiment, wish bones and flower brad is also from Tim Holtz. I crumpled up a piece of Core-dinations cardstock and then sanded it. I also colored the lace with the black soot and chipped sapphire.
Be sure to check out the full series of Fearless Fairy Tales at Little Miss Muffet stamps. You can see more great creations at the Little Miss Muffet challenge blog and the Little Miss Muffet Gallery.

If friends were flowers …

Today I would like to share one of the gorgeous Polka Dot Pals from Little Miss Muffet stamps. I just love these, so fun to color and oh so cute!

2014-07-04 18.37.00

This is Jamie. I love polka dots and all of the Polka Dot Pals have them so that just makes them more fun.

I used the sketch from the Little Miss Muffet challenge blog, it is a simple sketch and that seems to be my design style lately. I want to showcase the images and not cover them up with lots and lots of ‘stuff’ so CAS it is.

2014-07-05 07.14.44

I colored her with the following Copics and Make it Colour blending card:

  • Skin – E11, E21, E00, E000, R12
  • Clothes – BV17, BV13, BV02
  • Hair – N9, N7, N5
  • Flowers and lady bugs – YG67, YG63, YG61, C9, C7, C5, R29, R27, R24, R22, YR09, Y17, Y15, Y11

Elven Samenah

2014-07-02 18.31.58 cover

Hi friends.... wishing you a fabulous day. Today I would like to show you a little project I made for my journal. I so like to find images that I can bring to life with color and Elven Samenah is a great image to do that with ... all of the fine lines and wonderful wings and flowing hair.

2014-07-02 18.31.58

There is a story that goes with my coloring of this image and the background behind her so let me tell you and you will agree that the sentiment is a perfect fit for the story.

I have my coloring desk in the living room during the week so I can color, watch TV and be close to hubby. Well, my grandkids also like to sit at the table and one day they decided to play library and make check out cards. They used a fine line sharpie and guess what was under what they were writing on? My image of Elven. It had little black dots all over it and I had come to far with coloring to give it up so I decided to add little stars around the image.  The stars completely covered up the black dots.

2014-07-02 18.31.58 image

Here is a close up of her and wah-la ... no black dots :)
