Soccer Anyone?

Our challenge at Magnolia Stamp Lovers is sports. Now, with the new Winner Takes It All collection it is pretty easy but there are also some wonderful older stamps that could be used to create a sports scene.

I did use stamps from this collection but …..

Notice anything? This stamp is actually Edwin but one of my friends has three daughters and they all play soccer so I wanted Edwin to become Tilda. Here are the stamps I used:

The stork has arrived

Today I would like to show you my creation for Digital Delights.

I made this for some friends who have a new baby girl. I thought the Baby Sentiments and Little Dumpling and Stork was perfect to make a frame with. I added some ribbon and some Zva Creative pearl swirls to each corner. I made the frame inside with several layers of card stock, pop dots and Spellbinders Grand Labels 11.

Here is a close up of Little Dumpling and Stork. I colored them with Copics and Skeleton Leaves.

The Baby Sentiment set includes a flower that says It’s a Girl. I printed 3 copies on a yellow paper and then cross rolled the flowers, added some pop dots and added to the frame. I also added some heart stick pins to the flower.

Here is a card I made for a friend at work.

I made my envelope using Kraft paper. Added a Spellbinders Picot Edge Circles. I added some flowers and leaves from Wild Orchid. The bow I made using ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon and my Bow Easy.

For my image I used one of the older Magnolia stamps, Bandage Tilda, and colored her with Copics. I used Core’dinations cardstock for my card base and my Picot circles. The Designer paper is from the new Basic Grey 6 x 6 Kissing Booth collection.

I needed a tiny Get Well Soon to fit in the Spellbinders Standard Circles Large so I created it on the computer.

Now, the inside. I used Chef Edwin. The dishwasher is a piece of clip art I found on the internet. I added some white glistening snow ‘stuff’ from my stash. When I put it on it was white but when it dried it was all glitter.

Tim Holtz Palette

Today since I am off work I decided to play with my Tim Holtz Palette. Stamping Scrapping sells these with ink in them. Since I have never used the inks and always wanted to try it I decided you couldn’t go wrong. You get a sample of every ink, the blending solution and a pen for the blending solution. All of this for $25.95. You can check it out by clicking here.

I didn’t do anything fancy but what I did do was stamp a rose and then color it. I love the way this works, it is too cool! As your ink is used it automatically lightens and shades.

Here is what I did. I think for it being my first time it doesn’t look too bad. I used 5 colors in the palette – Meadow, Lettuce, Expresso, Mountain Rose and Terra Cotta. If I had to do it again I wouldn’t use Meadow. I ended up covering up most of it with Expresso.

So while coloring I wondered how many Copics it would take to do the same thing. Here is the one I did with my Copics.

It doesn’t look the same even though I tried to color it the same. Here is both of them together.

So, what did I learn? I now have a new addiction. I really like these alcohol inks and how they work using the palette and blending pen. I also think this would be great for someone just starting out …. give it a try and see if you like it. I still love my Copics and will continue to use them …. especially on my Maggies ….. but I also plan on continuing to build my collection of these inks. They really made the roses look very nice.

Butterflies Everywhere ……

Wow! I had this idea in my head but I think I might have gone a little overboard …… what do you think?

There is definitely a lot of butterflies!! I made a 6 x 6 easel card and decided that the butterflies needed to be flying off of the card so I added a 3” piece of acrylic to the top.

Christmas / Holidays challenge at SSCC

Today I would like to show you my final project for this challenge.

The background is just plain white cardstock. I then used the candy canes in the SSD Swirly Labels 22 Greetings and SSD Swirly Labels 22 Wishes and stamped the cardstock using Lady Bug from the Memento Dew Drops Gum Drops set.

Happy Friday!

I went out this morning with my youngest daughter and checked out the sales …. glad that’s over. I’m not one for shopping but let me tell you it was easier than last night. We went to Walmart last night for the 10pm specials and ended up leaving. Didn’t realize that there were that many cars where I live ….. tons and tons of people!!

Christmas / Holidays at SSCC

Today I would like to show you a card box that I made. I have also made a tutorial on how to create the box. It can be seen on the Stamping Scrapping Design Team blog or my tutorial page.

The card box will hold A4 (4 x 5 1/2) size cards. Here is a list of ingredients:

Here is a pic of the top of the box. This Tilda is brand new and I just love her. She is versatile and can even be used for a birthday, thank you gift, etc.

I used several different papers from the Echo Park papers. The colors are perfect in this pack and they all coordinate so well.

And the inside. It is quite large and will hold several cards.

Here is a close up of Tilda.

For her wings I used the smallest of the Heirloom Ornaments and covered them with Stickles.

On the Anglaise Die I put Stickles around the embossed circle and then the edges. I added some pearls in between the ovals.

The little pointsetta I made by cutting some scraps of green paper and colored some round beads with Copics R29.

Happy Halloween at SSCC

Today I would like to show you the card I made for the Halloween challenge at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central.

Here it is. This is Sitting Witch Tilda and she is from the Magnolia So Spooky ‘09 Collection.

I colored her with Copics but didn’t write the numbers down. The papers are from the Best Creation Happy Haunting collection. Buttons are from my stash and the ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I used my Bow easy to make the bow. I matted Tilda on Spellbinders Labels 15.

Bows Everywhere

I decided to make some bows on Saturday using my Brilliant Bow Makers. I got quite a few done. I sold some at work so thought I would make up a bunch to have on hand. Gotta be able to pay for my craft and keep replenishing!!

Brilliant Bow Makers

It’s been awhile since I have posted. Haven’t had much time to make any extra projects but have some coming up soon. Been pretty busy with work and just to danged tired when I get home.

I do want to show you a bow I have made with my Brilliant Bow Makers. I now have all of the sets – Classic, Snap and Surround. All of these sets are available at Stamping Scrapping in individual kits or buy the Ultimate kit and get all three. My next purchase is going to be the great DVD that shows you how to make characters out of ribbon using the Bow Makers.

This one I made uses all three of the kits. Isn’t it adorable? I used ribbon from my monthly kit from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

The instructions for these are included with the kits and they are step by step and very easy!!

Dog Days of Summer

Card/Gift Box

I made a new card and gift box. The thing is it is a card and gift box in one. I’m not really sure what to call it though --- is it a Card Gift Box? A Gift Box Card? A Gift Card Box? Decisions, decisions, decisions.
So, the idea came to me because I have been making hair bows, as well as adding the bows to my cards, using the Brilliant Bow Maker Classic Kit. I wanted to do a card and make a box for the hair bows. Tada! Why not make one? So, here is what I came up with. I still have to do some refining but it turned out exactly how I thought about it.

So, here is the front of the card/box. I chose to use one of my Sugar Nellie images. She’s brushing her hair so I thought it was perfect for the hair bows.

I used a McGill butterfly punch and punched one in yellow and orange and then added Ranger Stickles.

Here is a close up of my image. I stamped her with Memento Tuxedo Black onto Cryogen White Cardstock and then colored her with Copics.

I added a orange carnation, roses, and leaves (another McGill punch).

Here is a side profile of the card box. I used my Scor-pal to make this and assembled it with Scor-tape.

Here is the inside. For my circles I used Spellbinders Big Scallop Circles Large and Spellbinders Big Scallop Circles small. The sentiment is a JustRite Stamper sentiment.

I placed the hair bows on a removable piece of cardstock.

Well, what do you think? Would love to know what you would call this. I'll post the instructions in a few days for those that would like to make one. I want to refine it some, it has a few little kinks that I need to work out!

Brilliant Bow Maker–New Tool

I want to tell you about one of the new tools that was debuted at Chicago CHA. It was one of my favorites. I love making bows and love ribbon so this was a must for me. I still love my Bow Easy but for fancy bows you cannot go wrong with the Brilliant Bow Maker.

My good friend Cindy of Stamping Scrapping loaned me hers so I have been playing today. I have three granddaughters so my samples are hair bows but if you check out the post directly below this one you will see the ones I made for my MSL sketch challenge card.

There are three individual kits (Classic, Snap and Surround for $19.95 each) to chose from or the ultimate kit ($39.95) which includes all three. These are all available for preorder at Stamping Scrapping.

The kit that I have been using is the Classic Bow Templates. You can make bows from 1 1/2” all the way up to 7” and boy is it easy peasy. Each kit comes with an instruction book and several samples with step by step instructions. Be sure to check out the video Cindy recorded while at CHA so you can see how simple these are. The video is on the same page as the links (above in red) for the templates.

OK, so now for what I have created. I made these Halloween treat bags using paper from the Echo Park Apothecary pack for the bags and Core’dinations cardstock for the flaps.

Here is a close up of the bows. This one uses the Medium and Large template. I added a clippy to the back for the barrett and a skull to the center of the bow for Halloween.

Same thing here, medium template with a spider as the center of my bow.

Not only can I fill the treat bag with goodies but once the goodies are gone my granddaughters will have a hair bow!

For these next ones I made little backpacks from a pattern on SCS. There is a loop at the top, just like a regular backpack, and I just hooked the hair bows to the top to decorate the bag a little bit. I made these in their school colors.

Now, I made a couple more for two of my grandsons. I wondered what I could do using the Brilliant Bow Maker for a boy so this is what I came up with. It’s my first shot so don’t laugh too loud .

I made these as medallions. They have a safety pin on the back that can be put on their shirts. My original thought was to put their grade but I didn’t allow myself enough room so I changed and used No. 1.

Back from CHA … and an exciting share

Just got back from CHA in Chicago. It was an awesome trip …. saw some great friends and met many new ones.

A few posts back I posted the Magnolia calendar I made. You can see the post here. While I was making it I thought it would be great if I took it to CHA and was able to get Tim Holtz to sign it for me and also get a pic with him. Well, guess what? I did and I did …. hehehehe.

Now, be nice on the picture. I take horrible pictures as it is and with the steroid shots I have had my face has swelled up so much I look like a ‘who’!

I am very excited to have this! I love all of Tim Holtz products, they are so fun to work with. Stamping Scrapping will also be carrying all of the new stuff so be sure to check it out!

Paper Corsages

Today I would like to show you what we will be making in one of the classes hosted by Stamping Scrapping at CHA in Chicago this coming week. If you will be there stop by booth 1400 and say hello, we would love to meet you!
Grab a cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy the tutorial.
We taking these supplies …..

and turning them into this ……

For this project the following supplies are needed:

Spellbinders Grand Calibur
SSD Anglaise Circle Spellbinders compatible Dies
Scor-pal
Buttons
Scor-pal scor-tape
Zip dry
Color Me White flower
Ribbon
Safety pin or pin back
Pom-pom or pop dots
2-3” circle of paper for back

First step is to cut out two of the large Anglaise dies, one of the next largest size and a circle.

After cutting out all of the dies the two large Anglaise dies need to be scored. I scored at the small circles and at the bottom of each curve all the way around. It is difficult to see the score lines with this paper and the camera angle.
So, between the two ‘curls’ there is a small circle that is cut from the die. Start scoring here lining up the top and bottom on the same line. Next, line up the scor-pal in the crevice to the right or left of the curl. Next, score in the valley between the two ovals. Do this all the way around for both large die cuts.

After both are scored cut on one of the score lines all the way to the inner circle.

Next step is to accordion fold the two large die cuts.

Once this is complete take a dab of Zip dry or scor-tape and add it to each cut on one of the large die cuts.

Now, take the two pieces and glue them together to form one large circle.

At this point the shape looks a little odd. Just bring the folds together and it will begin to take shape.
Next, add Zip Dry or Scor-tape to the 2-3'” circle. I prefer Scor-tape because I can adjust the die cuts for a longer period of time. It is also a little difficult for me to squeeze the bottle of Zip Dry.

After this sets up for a few seconds take the now one large accordion folded die cut and set it on the circle. Do your best to center on the back side although it isn’t necessary. Continue to adjust the accordion folded cut out so that the folds look uniform throughout. After holding your breath a couple of minutes you should be able to let go and the cut out will remain attached to the circle.

Next step is to take the next size Anglaise die cut and put a dab of Zip Dry on it, the pom-pom and a dab of Zip Dry on top of the pom-pom.

After it sets a few seconds place the pom-pom in the center of the Paper Corsage base. This is the white space in the picture above this one. Your corsage should look like the one shown below.

Take a Color Me White flower and adhere to the top of the corsage.

Add a button to the middle of the flower. Adhere using Zip Dry.

Take the piece of ribbon and fold it in half as shown.

Using Scor-tape (Zip Dry didn’t work too well with this ribbon) cross the ribbon over itself as shown above.

Add the safety pin at the fold of the ribbon.

That’s it ….. all done!

Digital Delights Debut

Hello Friends,

Today is my debut for Digital Delights as one of the new design team members.

For my first project I chose to use

And here is what I made.

I got the idea as soon as I saw this adorable set. Remember the book about the little train that said I think I can, I think I can? Well, my thought was I can do it. I used some generic rubber stamps for the front banner with my Spellbinders Lacey Nested Pennants and Nested Pennants. I printed the adorable paper, and the digital stamp on my Kodak printer (wonderful printer BTW) and used green and blue cardstock for my matting. I colored this cutie with Copics right off the printer, no heat setting or anything required!

After coloring the train I cut it with more Spellbinders – Petite Scalloped Circles Lg and Standard Circles Lg. I cut both of these, and the smaller set on the inside, at the same time using my Grand Calibur. Wonderful product, so much quicker when you have multiple cuts to make.

Now, for the inside. Let me tell you the full story of why I came up with the I CAN DO IT. My youngest grandson is going through Potty Training!!

2012 Magnolia Calendar

Have I got a post for you ….. it’s a long one so grab a cup of your drink of choice and sit back and enjoy.

So, had my second epidural injection on Friday and I know the first one helped because this time I felt the medicine flow in to my arm and back instead of just my neck. I’ll tell you though I felt like I got hit by a Mack truck yesterday. Feel pretty good today and the numbness is getting better in my fingers.

Since I have been home from work (doc’s orders, tried to go back but he said NO! and boy do I feel guilty especially since I can function for the most part just no lifting or pressure on the left side) and as I have been recuperating I have been doing a lot of coloring …. honing up on those skills ya’know. I have a home made drafting type table that allows me to sit straight up and a high back office chair that is completely adjustable. Of course, haven’t been able to stay in any one position for very long but have managed to get a little creating done. I’m so glad that it was the left side of me that was in pain and not the right. I am one that has to be doing something and with not being able to sit in any one place or position long my coloring has kept me sane. So what have I learned?

How to cap and uncap my Copics with my right hand only
It’s very difficult to cut a piece of paper with only one hand but it can be done
You can stand, sit, lean backward, lean forward, use your elbows, etc. when cutting out an image. Don’t pick hard ones though because with limited use it takes a LONG time to cut one out

OK, so enough about that, that’s not what you came here for. My post title is 2012 Calendar right? So here you go.

My idea for this type of calendar came from one of the issues of Magnolia Ink. There was a few pictures of this gorgeous calendar on one of the last pages (been reading my magazines in spurts too!). I liked how it looked so decided to take a stab.

I made a 10” long base using my LAST piece of Kraft (gulp) to hold all of the calendar pages. All of the papers used for calendar are Tim Holtz papers. I also inked all of the edges on the pages using Tim Holtz Distress Ink – Tea Dye. All coloring was done with Copics but I did not write down the colors, so sorry. I also marked all of the holidays using Imaginisce I-Rock tool and gems. The calendar was assembled using the Zutter Bind it all. The corners of all the calendar pages were punched using a corner punch from Hobby Lobby bought years ago (it’s old but I love it!).

For the 2012 portion I used Tim Holtz Hanging Sign, Core’dinations cardstock, Cricut Storybook cartridge, sanding block, Longing Tilda.

January uses Rowdy Tilda, Ranger Stickles and McGill’s Highland Snowflake punch.

February uses Cupid Tilda and SSD Skeleton Leaves.

March uses a rose from my stash sprayed with Glimmer Mist and Tilda with Rubber Boots.

April uses flowers from my stash sprayed again with Glimmer Mist and Tilda with Hanging Rabbit.

May uses a heart from my stash inked with Distress Ink Tea Dye, Tilda with Three Flowers and SSD Gardenia’s.

June uses a bobber from my stash, Edwin waiting for fish and log. I added my own fishing pole using a twig from my yard.

July uses Tilda with Balloon, pearls colored with copics and ribbon from my stash.

August uses a laser carousel horse cut out, Tilda with lace jeans and Ticket.

September uses Scarecrow Tilda and a bunch of buttons from my stash.

October uses a couple of pom poms with the wire from roses colored with Copics and Tilda with Spiderweb. You can’t see it to well but I added some sewing batting stretched to look like spiderweb for he spiders.

November uses more buttons from my stash, raffia and Tilda with pumpkins.

And finally December which uses more buttons from my stash, some candy canes, some tree trimmings, Tilda hanging ornament and Christmas tree.

Ribbons and Bows at the House of Gilli

Today is my turn to show you my Gilli creation for the House of Gilli challenge.

For my image I chose Cowgirl Gilli. She is so versatile, she can be used in many areas. For this card I have her being an officer of the law!

I pulled out my Cricut and dusted it off for these stars. These are from the Plantin Schoolbook cartridge and are very fitting with the patterned paper. I colored Gilli with Copics and my sentiment uses the SSD Anglaise Circle Spellbinders compatible Dies. For my bow I used Tim Holtz Crushed Olive Distress Pads and inked it up. I also inked all the edges of my papers. I added three colors of ribbon in my bow and tied it all with my bow easy.

For the inside of the card I used the same stars and added a couple of pistol charms along with my sentiment.

Tilda with Bundle

First, thanks everyone for your well wishes on my back. Today is the third day after having my epidural and things continue to feel good. I get up and walk around a lot, not usually sitting for more than 30 minutes to try and keep things limber. Sleeping is the hardest part because when I sleep I don’t move making mornings a little stiff. I still do not have the feeling in my index and middle finger on my right hand but if everything stays the way it is I can live with that. Gonna talk to the Doc on Tuesday to see if I can go back to work and also if I can follow up with a Chiropractor I used to see. If he says yes to both accounts then I might be able to get the feeling back in my fingers.

OK, so the reason you came here was to see Tilda with Bundle. I made this card for a co-worker that is moving away and I wanted her to know that she would be missed, she is an important part of our company (as well as every other employee there).

Here is a close up of Tilda. I have found that when I want a more vintage type look it works much better using Cryogen. I like the way that E13 works on the Cryogen. I tried it on the Copic X-press but it didn’t seem to blend well but Copic X-press works great on none vintage ….. hmmm, maybe I just needed to clean the tips of my pens.

A card for a friend

Today I finished up a card that I started before I found out I had a bulging disc in my back. I went yesterday and had an epidural injection and it seems to have helped. I’m not in much pain now but my hand is still numb. So, I thought I would finish assembling this card.

I have had this digital image for awhile and finally finished up the coloring of her. Isn’t she adorable? The only place I know of to purchase her is over at Funky Kits. I love these images and have several but this is the first one I have completed. The name of her is Faith standing and is a Sugar Nellie image. Here is a close up.

I also used McGill’s Garden rose set to make the rose. I used vellum in place of paper and I really like how it turned out. I also used McGill Pine Punch for the little branches.

I used Spellbinders Standard Circles Large and Spellbinders Standard Circles Small for my sentiment matting. I cut both of these at the same time using Spellbinder’s Grand Calibur.

The sentiment is from JustRite Stamper and the You Inspire Me set. The bow is from the SSD Christmas bow assortment.

I made this into an easel card and added some pearls on the bottom section of the card and added another friend sentiment from my stash.

Red, White and Blue

Our challenge at Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central this time is to use Red, White and Blue. If you are a follower of my blog I’m sure you saw the Tilda firecracker I made a few days ago. It was definitely red, white and blue but not the one I made SSCC.

A little different take on what you were expecting huh? Not the traditional red, white and blue that one might think of.

I chose to use Pirate Edwin as my image. I had some gems that I purchased on clearance that were related to pirates so I used those on this card.

Pretty cool aren’t they?

I made this birthday card for a colleague at work.

And a pic of the inside. I added some little gem swords that were with the same package as the skulls.

You’re a Firework

Ever heard the Firework song by Katy Perry? Well, ever since this came out I have been thinking of a creation. I have been down for a week with a pinched nerve (I think) in my back and causing my left arm to be numb so what I started over a week ago too me until this morning to finish, been working on it here and there when I had a break from the pain. Anyhow, that’s not what this post is about so let me get on with it .

My creation is fashioned after Katy’s song. If you have seen the video and listened to the words of this song it is about being someone no matter where you are right now. Here is my creation.

I didn’t make a card this time but a great big firecracker. I think this turned out very cute and I am pleased with it. So, for my ingredients:

Toilet paper roll holder
Cricut Independence Day mini cartridge
Pearls

Star ribbon
McGill Pine Punch
Tilda wants a hug
Martha Stewart Star punch (I kept the stars for the firecracker)

Embossing challenge at SSCC

Today is my day to show you my embossing creation for the Stamping Scrapping Challenge Central challenge.

Here it is. Not much embossing on the card but the matting on the envelope is embossed. I did plan on embossing the card but got so wrapped up in making it that I forgot so I embossed the envelope. I made my box envelope with my Scor-pal. I made the border around the card using a Martha Stewart punch.

I used this adorable You and Me stamp by Bildmalarna. BTW – all Bildy stamps are 40% off at Stamping Scrapping so be sure to check them out. I used several Spellbinders dies on this card:
